Byte Order Mark

Byte Order Mark (BOM) is a hidden sequence of bytes at the beginning of a text file that indicates the file’s encoding type. It tells the system how to interpret the text within the file, ensuring it reads correctly whether it’s UTF-8, UTF-16, or another encoding format. It’s similar to a note at the front of a recipe book indicating all recipes use metric measurements.
